If you wish to join one of our many committees, please see the following committee list, including a brief description for each, and apply for the position(s) that best fit your area of expertise.

Committees

Community Projects Committee

To plan and organize community service projects and to encourage participation by all Association members in these events. To organize and supervise the various donations/collections and distribution of said items. To assign different organizations/individuals to each association event. Community Projects extends support to the following: Circle of Hope, F.A.I.T.H. Inc., Habitat for Humanity of North Georgia, Habitat for Humanity of White County, Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, Scholarships for 9 high school students, and CASA.

Education Committee

This committee plans, organizes, and promotes all educational seminars and continuing education courses.

New Member Committee

The purpose of this committee is to welcome, engage, and support new members of the Association. To reach out to new members and provide them with beneficial resources. To promote engagement and participation among new members. To provide feedback to leadership on ways to improve the new member experience and retention. To be present at the New Member Orientation.

RPAC Committee

To represent the Association in REALTORS® political action and raise funds for RPAC, which in turn supports legislative candidates and issues that advance REALTOR® views. To consider all matters of taxation and legislation, zoning & ordinances affecting real estate and property owners within the jurisdiction of the Association, and to advise the Board concerning these matters.

Special Events/Luncheons Committee

This committee plans the annual Affiliate Expo and Installation Luncheon, monthly luncheons, and any other special events.

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee will define and execute a plan to manage the Association's public relations.

Broker Council

The Broker Council will plan events to increase local Broker involvement.

Statewide Professional Standards Cooperative

The Georgia Mountains & Lakes REALTORS® Association is a member of the Statewide Professional Standards Cooperative established by the Georgia Association of REALTORS®.

Nominations are reviewed each November and approved for 3-year terms beginning in January the next year. You will be notified if approved for these committees.

Grievance

This committee reviews and investigates complaints against members as well as arbitration requests filed with the Association. When appropriate, it refers them to the Professional Standards Committee for a hearing.

To participate in this committee, you must: (1) have held REALTOR® membership for a minimum of three years; (2) attend a GAR-approved Professional Standards training seminar; and (3) sign a confidentiality agreement.

Professional Standards

This committee encourages strict adherence to the REALTORS® Code of Ethics by all members. It conducts hearings on alleged violations of the Code of Ethics, commission disputes, and other matters referred by the Grievance Committee and/or the Board of Directors.

To participate in this committee, you must: (1) have held REALTOR® membership for a minimum of five years; (2) attend a GAR-approved Professional Standards training seminar; and (3) sign a confidentiality agreement.
